Pain Relief

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology tape has a comprehensive array of therapeutic benefits. Because kinesiology taping can usually be left on for several days or up to a week, these therapeutic benefits are available to the injured area 24 hours a day, significantly accelerating the healing process from trauma, injuries and inflammatory conditions.

I am certified in basic and performance kinesiology taping for both horse & rider  through Rock Tape FMT.

Pain relief

Kinesiotape provides pain relief via structural support for weak or injured body parts.

Rock tape is a flexible elastic tape that moves with the body. This provides supports to your horses body parts without the tape slipping.

By supporting the body part Rock tape is able to provide pain relief and muscular support to help control body parts affected by muscle inhibition. It is also thought to inhibit nociceptors, or pain pathways, in your muscles, skin, and joint structures. Decreasing painful input to the brain is thought to normalize muscle tone, resulting in decreased pain and muscular spasm.

muscle support

Muscle strength may be assisted by kinesiology tape via physical assistance and tactile feedback through the skin proprioception boost. It is thought to change the proprioception input of the sensory nervous system in the muscles, joints, and skin. The tape is thought to improve the interaction between the skin and the underlying structures to help reset the circuitry of this part of the nervous system resulting in improved muscular activation and performance.

Research has shown that RockTape on skin can attenuate muscle fatigue. In rehab, this is very important, not only for the parts of the body that are currently hurting, but also for the surrounding areas as they help to pick up the slack for muscles that are currently not working well.

This phenomenon may assist both the able bodied athlete to enhance their performance and hypotonic horses with low muscle tone.

swelling reduction

Kinesiology taping provides a passive lift to the skin via its elastic properties. This vacuum effect allows lymphatic and venous drainage systems to drain and swollen or bruised tissue quicker than without the kinesiology tape.

It is also thought that this same principle can assist the removal of exercise byproducts like lactic acid that may contribute to post-exercise soreness and  delayed onset muscle soreness.
